Lane Powell is pleased to announce that attorneys Aaron J. Fickes, Meryl Hulteng, Patrick T. Murphy and Aaron Schaer have recently joined the Firm.
Aaron J. Fickes has joined the Seattle office as an attorney in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group, where he will focus his practice on transportation, aviation, regulatory compliance and appellate litigation. Fickes has represented institutions and individuals in a broad range of matters, from contract disputes to class actions alleging violations of federal and state law. Fickes received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and his M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago.
Meryl Hulteng has rejoined the Portland office as an attorney in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Hulteng previously worked as a summer associate at Lane Powell, and has additional experience working as a research assistant for University of Oregon School of Law Professor Mohsen Manesh, researching various aspects of Delaware corporate law, including aiding and abetting liability for breach of fiduciary duties and ambiguities in partnership agreements. Hulteng received her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law where she was managing editor of The Oregon Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
Patrick T. Murphy has rejoined the Seattle office as an attorney in the Firm’s Startups and Emerging Companies Practice Group, where he will focus his practice on corporate, business and transactional matters with a particular emphasis on startups and emerging companies. In addition to his experience as a summer associate with Lane Powell, Murphy served as a law clerk with the Antitrust and Consumer Protection Divisions of the Federal Trade Commission in Seattle, and as a legal intern for Microvision, Inc., a pioneer in laser beam scanning technology. Murphy received his J.D. from Harvard Law School; and his B.S.M. in Finance, cum laude, and B.A., summa cum laude, in Classical Studies from Tulane University, A.B. Freeman School of Business.
Aaron Schaer has joined the Seattle office as an attorney in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group, where he will focus his practice on securities and corporate governance litigation. Prior to joining Lane Powell, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Janis Graham Jack of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, as an intern for the Federal Defender Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert E. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. Schaer received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude, and his B.A. in International Relations, cum laude, and Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, cum laude, from Michigan State University. He is licensed in the state of Michigan.
