In some Portland neighborhoods, it's easier to find weed than food

It's easier to find weed than food in Parkrose.

The Parkrose neighborhood in North Portland is a food desert and a marijuana oasis. Most of the low-income residents there live more than a mile from a supermarket —  but within easy walking distance of a pot shop.

Excluding small markets and convenience stores, we only found one major supermarket in Parkrose — the Grocery Outlet on NE Sandy Boulevard. There are, however, at least 10 licensed cannabis businesses in the neighborhood.

List of licensed marijuana retailers and location data comes from the OLCC's database. This data is plotted against a list of Portland grocery stores.
