A roundup of a few key races.

Gov. Kate Brown sailed to a win in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, while Republican Knute Buehler rose above right-leaning challenges to land the top spot.  The two face off in November.

In the closely watched Senate District 24 race,  civil rights attorney Shemia Fagan defeated five-term Democratic incumbent Rod Monroe.

Former Democratic state representative Val Hoyle will be the next commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish kept his spot; Jo Ann Hardesty and Loretta Smith rose to the top of the group running for Commissioner Dan Saltzman’s seat.  The two will compete in a runoff in to the general election.

Kevin Barton, 40, a chief deputy district attorney in Washington County, won the County DA race, defeating former Polk County prosecutor and Beaverton criminal defense attorney Max Wall, 40.

As expected, Lynn Peterson carried the race for Metro Council presidency.
