What I’m reading
Killing Jesus by Bill O’Reilly & Martin Dugard. Fascinating read, a great history lesson.

Advice for young people
I would advise young people to truly get to know their clients on a personal level. Understanding my clients’ personal interests, family needs, hardships, businesses, hobbies and political views helps me recommend an investment structure that is more meaningful. It’s easy to get caught up in portfolio construction, but ultimately we need to remember that it’s about the client and their personal well-being.

Business role model
Dan Wieden, co-founder of Wieden+Kennedy and part owner of Arnerich Massena.

What I’m watching
Mud. Matthew McConaughey’s performance was riveting, and the story line was original and unexpected. It was the first movie in a while that neither of my kids had picked.

Where would you like to see the company in five years?
Our goal is to see the company retain its independence and excellence as it transitions into the next generation of ownership and leadership. Mostly, I want to share our value proposition with clients. We offer something pretty special in terms of our forward-looking investment philosophy and client service mentality.

What motivates you to come to work every day?
My clients.
