Which would be more impressive if 2009 hadn't been so rotten. And the $458 million net income reported in 2010 is a third of the record $1.3 billion farmers and ranchers netted in 2004. 
The figures show Oregon agriculture remains in a "very slow dig" out of a long slump, analyst Brent Searle of the state Department of Agriculture said in a news release. 
Net farm income is the amount farmers and ranchers retain after paying all business-related expenses, including labor, fertilizer and fuel. It's considered an indicator of farm health in Oregon.
