Skanska USA Building Inc. is in talks to become an anchor tenant for the proposed Oregon Sustainability Center.

Scott Andrews, chairman of the Portland Development Commission, cautioned that Skanska has made only a verbal commitment. The company hasn’t signed a letter of intent and remains one of several private sector companies in discussions about taking space in the yet-to-be-built facility. “I would call it a greater expression of interest in at least moving on to a formal agreement,” Andrews said.

Skanska has already been tapped to build the $59 million building — a project of the PDC and the Oregon University System — planned for the eastern edge of Portland State University.
