Flir Systems Inc. laid off nearly 100 workers this week, including 40 at its Wilsonville operations, blaming uncertainty surrounding the federal budget.

Flir Systems Inc. laid off nearly 100 workers this week, including 40 at its Wilsonville operations, blaming uncertainty surrounding the federal budget.

Tony Trunzo, chief financial officer for the Wilsonville-based company, said the cuts affect fewer than 100 of its 3,500-member workforce. Its Wilsonville operations took a proportionally larger hit, though, with nearly 10 percent of its 400-person workforce getting pink slips. He did not provide more specific numbers. 

Trunzo said a drop in military orders and uncertain federal finance picture led to the decision. The current debt-ceiling stalemate in Congress hasn’t helped matters, Trunzo said. 

“That tumultuous atmosphere has had a real effect on our business,” Trunzo said, adding that the company doubts orders will rebound in coming months.
