TriMet ridership for fiscal year 2011 surpassed 100 million for the second time.

There were 100,002,700 trips on TriMet in 2011, up 0.7 percent over fiscal year 2010. MAX rides increased 7.5 percent to 41,200,200 and the Westside Express Service commuter rail saw a 21.2 percent surge to 370,800 trips. 

“Despite the ongoing recession and high unemployment, reaching the 100 million milestone demonstrates the importance of transit to our region and the connections it provides to work, school, community events and other activities,” said General Manager Neil McFarlane in a statement.
