SolarWorld is providing a 112-kilowatt solar panel system for Vestas’ new North American headquarters building.

The system will sit atop the 102-year-old Meier & Frank Depot building in Portland’s Pearl District. The building’s redevelopment is aiming for a LEED Platinum designation.

The solar array will be the largest in Portland’s central business district.

Both SolarWorld, a 35-year-old German solar manufacturer, and Vestas, a Danish company that has been in the wind business since 1979, keep their North American headquarters in the greater Portland region.
