Port of Astoria Commissioners signed a letter of support for a proposed alternative energy farm at the Bradwood Landing property.

Project consultant John Dunzer claims the proposed farm could create more than 100 jobs in Clatsop County.

The letter, signed by the commission, and read out loud by Commissioner Floyd Holcom Tuesday night, states that development of the energy farm project lines up with the Port’s strategic plan as a “generator for jobs” and an “investment in the future of our county and our citizens.”

The last project planned for the Bradwood Landing site, a liquefied natural gas terminal, fizzled after the company, NorthernStar, declared bankruptcy last year. Hillsboro resident Ken Leahy owns the property and Dunzer has been working for him as an unpaid consultant on this new project.
