The service is similar to Groupon, which Google unsuccessfully bid $6 billion for last year.
…The company said Portland shoppers and merchants can sign up for Google Offers “beta” test. The company would not say when offers will be available, but said Google Offers will launch in Portland first.
A radio ad promising “50 percent off or more at Portland’s favorite places” will begin streaming on Pandora within the next week, according to the company, which has posted a YouTube video for Google Offers.
