Rogue Ale's parent company is suing a frame shop up to $51,000 over the loss of a nude photo of Mojava "Mo" Niemi, who played an important role in the brewing company's history.
Rogue Ales leased their first storefront from the Niemi family in Newport in 1989, under the condition that the playful photo of Mo in a bathtub be hung prominently in the bar.
In August 2010, Rogue took the original photograph to Frame Central, a Pearl District frame shop, to be cleaned, restored and refurbished. Rogue also requested 10 framed copies, which it intended to hang in its growing network of pubs.
"The frame shop could not (and still cannot) locate the original," Joyce said in a statement. "For some reason, the original bath tub picture was sent to Cincinnati, Ohio, to be copied and the frame shop has no record of the picture's return. It appears that at her age Mo couldn't make the long and unexpected trip to Ohio."
