Attendance was up this weekend at the 2011 Portland International Auto Show, thanks in part to the featured electric cars and hybrids.

“I won’t have final figures for awhile, but I already know attendance is going to be well up over previous years. Saturday may set a record,” says Greg Remensperger, executive director of the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association, the show’s presenter and producer.

Representatives of Portland General Electric reported fielding many questions about electric cars at the company’s booth in the show’s Eco-Center.

“People want to know what charging an electric car will cost them. They’re interested in taking the plunge,” says Andrew Kaiser, a PGE customer representative.
