Cyber Monday started as a gimmick to get people to shop at work the first Monday after Thanksgiving, but has morphed into a great day for Oregon retailers.
Cyber Monday started as a gimmick to get people to shop at work the first Monday after Thanksgiving, but has morphed into a great day for Oregon retailers.
"There's all that Cyber Monday hype -- everybody is talking about it," said [Made in Oregon's general manager of sales Candace] Vincent, who plans to offer more incentives, such as "gift with purchase" or free shipping on certain items next year. "It does create a buzz."
Last year, Cyber Monday sales totaled $887 million -- the second biggest online shopping day of the holiday season. This year, $1 billion wouldn't be a surprise, analysts say.
