As one of the few animals alive capable of putting a dent in a blackberry bush, goats have a huge niche to fill in the Pacific Northwest.

Georgina Steiner, owner of Goat Rental Northwest, said the herd has been enlisted to target invasive plant species such as blackberries and English ivy while protecting the other natural vegetation from potential damage that could be caused by using construction equipment to do the job. To accomplish this, the goats are fenced into specific areas of the site.

The herd has been on the job since October and will continue to plow away until February.
