Still no progress on the long-planned Wal-Mart store in Warrenton, but in the meantime, Goodwill is opening with even lower prices.

The first day will feature $100 giftcard giveaways and hand-picked merchandise pulled from other stores.

“We have marketed the area, and are doing extra things … the management wanted the store to be really loaded,” said Warrenton resident Steve Bergeron, the store’s new manager.

About 75 percent of the store’s items will sell during its first day in business, Bergeron said.
