Columbia Sportswear CEO Tim Boyle will chair the Democrats for Dudley Coalition as part of the Republican candidate’s outreach to Democrats.

It’s the latest high-profile political move for one of Oregon’s most successful business leaders.

Boyle assumes the role after having given Dudley a total of $27,000 for the Republican primary and general election. He also gave $5,000 to Democratic candidate John Kitzhaber before the May primary.

Boyle has become a political force in recent years. He’s blasted Portland leaders for policies he blames for forcing his $1.3 billion company to move to unincorporated Washington County. In 2009 and 2010, he donated $17,500 toward efforts to recall Portland Mayor Sam Adams.
