Businesses capitalize on eclipse, ‘skinny repeal’ health bill fails and Lattice sells subsidiary.
Businesses cash in on eclipse. Oregon businesses are pushing eclipse-oriented products in anticipation of the Aug. 21 event. Offerings include children’s books, t-shirts, eclipse-viewing glasses and even marijuana products. Read more on the trend from the Statesman Journal.

Latest healthcare bill fails. After a failed attempt to pass a repeal and replace healthcare bill, the Senate pushed through a “skinny repeal” bill to the floor. That legislation was defeated 51-49 with Sen. John McCain casting the deciding vote. NPR reports this is likely the last attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act, for now. Sen. Ron Wyden said we can “breathe a little easier” after the vote.
“This result is thanks to the voices of people around the country who stood up and spoke out for what they believed in. It is now time to work on a bipartisan basis to improve health care for every American,” Wyden said.
Lattice still waiting for sale approval. While Lattice Semiconductor waits for federal approval to sell its company to Chinese investors, the company sold its Indian subsidiary. The Oregonian has the story.
