Gov. Kate Brown pushes for transportation funds in Eugene

Gov. Brown urged lawmakers to pass a transportation program for 2017 during a recent visit to Eugene and Springfield.

The package would likely be paid for by a combination of higher gas taxes and vehicle registration and driver license fees.

Accompanied by top officials from the University of Oregon, Lane Transit District and both cities, Brown took a short EMX bus ride along Franklin Boulevard. The roadway, both in Glenwood and near the UO, is being eyed for major upgrades that could receive state money from such a package.
