EPA stalls Superfund plan until May


The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency delayed the release of the Portland Harbor Superfund cleanup plan until the first week of May.

Mark MacIntyre, EPA spokesman, said the agency needs more time to provide a massive electronic database of documents for the public to consider the cleanup proposal.

…“This record is required in order to give the public access to all of the background information they need when reviewing and commenting on the Proposed Plan,” MacIntyre said in a prepared statement. “This will be the largest Superfund Administrative Record being made available online and doing so is presenting software challenges.”
