The Mt. Hood snowpack has seen upwards of 80 inches of snowfall so far this year.

Last year, the area struggled to sustain a healthy amount of snow. This year, it’s seen 124% of “the normal amount.”

Last year at the same time, we had just 37 percent of normal.

“We’re miles ahead of where we were last year,” said hydrologist Julie Koeberlein a USDA video about the snowpack.

Those who bought low in winter sports before the season have to be happy, but they should beware: next year we’re expected to return to drought conditions.
