Opponents of the proposal to ban genetically modified crops in Jackson County have raised $244,945.

The largest contributions, of $25,000 each, have come from the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation and from Pacific Seafood, the West Coast’s largest seafood processor and distributor.

They’re followed by the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, which contributed $20,000; and the Nebraska Non-Stock Sugarbeet Growers Association, which contributed $15,000.

The measure’s backers, meanwhile, have raised a total of this $12,604.
