It’s easier to find weed than food in Parkrose.
The Parkrose neighborhood in North Portland is a food desert and a marijuana oasis. Most of the low-income residents there live more than a mile from a supermarket — but within easy walking distance of a pot shop.
Excluding small markets and convenience stores, we only found one major supermarket in Parkrose — the Grocery Outlet on NE Sandy Boulevard. There are, however, at least 10 licensed cannabis businesses in the neighborhood.
