Nevada and California surpassed Oregon in July and their rates are now significantly higher. Within Oregon, Bend is suffering more than any other metro area, with two and a half times the unemployment rate of four years ago. Eastern Oregon, often experiencing higher unemployment during boom times, has not seen the same rate jump as the state’s urban areas.
