State power generation has been fueled increasingly by natural gas: 16.8% of our power portfolio in 2004 compared to only 7.4% in 2000. Hydropower still dominated at 68.9%, but declined from 81.1% in 2000. Other renewables, such as wind power, supplied 3.5% of 2004 power, up from 2.1% in 2000. As of July, a significantly greater share of Oregon electricity went to commercial and industrial customers (66%) compared to the United States as a whole (59%), reflecting mighty hydroelectric resources and a relatively sparse population.
