Oregon Business celebrated the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon winners at the Sentinel Hotel in Portland on Oct. 3.
The evening kicked off with a reception in one of the hotel's splendid ballrooms.
The awards dinner took place in the Grand Ballroom.
Keynote Farres Alkhaiyer, a community services fellow at Healthy Democracy, spoke of his struggles to form a nonprofit that advocates for democratic change in his home country Syria. Alkhaiyer was subject to death threats and surveillance by the Syrian regime.
