Business Analytics Workshop Offered through OSU Sheds Insight on Important Business Practices

PORTLAND, Oregon- Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) and the College of Business at Oregon State University is offering “Business Analytics for Competitive Advantage”, a two-day intensive workshop.

Hosted in Portland, OR at Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center Saturday, August 22, 2015-August 23, 2015, this instructor led course will address the increasingly important role business analytics play in strategy and decision-making and designed to enhance an organization’s analytic capacity. Well-executed analytics effectively balance the art of business intuition and the science of data analysis.

Over the two-day workshop participants will learn how to move their organization’s analytics capacity to the next level and be able to understand how analytics projects can impact business strategy and business processes. Instructors will give an overview of analytics and analytics projects, managing and manipulating data, data governance in organizations, successful implementation of a business analytics project, exploring data for patterns, trends and differences and other important areas of analysis.

The course is developed and will be taught by four featured experts in the field and who are also instructors and professors in the College of Business at Oregon State University. Bin Zhu, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Business Information Systems and earned her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona; Byron Marshall, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Information Management and Accounting; Evan Smouse, Ph.D. is an instructor at the College of Business at Oregon State University and teaches undergraduate and MBA classes with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship; V.T. Raja, Ph.D. is an instructor of Business Information Systems.
