I am excited to announce we are reaching an important milestone in our flagship 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon survey.
The 2018 100 Best Companies project, which launched this week, marks the 25th anniversary of the survey.
In today’s business environment characterized by rapid change, we are proud that our 100 Best survey continues to be a valuable tool in helping companies measure how satisfied their employees are with the workplace.
Our 100 Best project started in 1994 when the first “Best Workplaces” feature listed 10 companies chosen by the editorial team.
The next year, 100 Best Companies were selected more thoroughly using a lengthy employer questionnaire and interviews with employees from top companies.
The process we use today, using employee and employer surveys, was introduced in 2005.
Our employee survey measures both the satisfaction — which accounts for 83% of companies’ 100 Best scores — and the importance employees place on a comprehensive list of workplace practices.
Employee satisfaction with workplace practices evolves over the years, reflecting changes in socio-economic trends. Once the results are in from the 2018 survey, we will analyze how employee satisfaction and employer benefits have changed over the years.
Our 100 Best celebration for the 2018 winners will also feature a 25th anniversary theme, including acknowledgment of companies that have been in the list for more than 10 years.
To mark our 25th anniversary, we are looking for stories from past 100 Best Companies that describe their experience of participating in the project. We will publish a selection of these submissions on our website.
