Construction of the new suspension span on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge likely will result in jobs added to the 71-person American Bridge hub in Reedsport.

After a 14-year effort to build The Bunkers at Tillamook Bay, the Port of Tillamook Bay expects to receive final construction permits for the project this spring.

Travelers to rugged Tillamook County are mostly left to their own imagination. There are no arcades, quaint downtowns, outlet malls or bustling bay fronts. Few hotels and no resorts. And only one man-made attraction to speak of, albeit a popular one: the cheese factory, up Highway 101 from windswept, quiet downtown Tillamook.

Federal aid has been approved for coastal counties to help repair $22 million in damages to highways and other public property incurred across the state by this past winter’s storms and mudslides.
