MEDIAMERICA, Inc. Names Insinga as New CEO

Andrew A. Insinga has been named President and CEO of the Portland-based publishing company MEDIAmerica, Inc.

Insinga, 40, has served as General Manager of  Beaverton-based Trader Publications and its seven Oregon and Washington weeklies since 2003. He served as Vice President of Denver-based Wiesner Publications from 2000 to 2003, overseeing several regional and national business publications, including Colorado Business. He previously served as Publisher or Associate Publisher of three national and international magazines for Primedia, and as a Sales and Marketing Director for Cowles Publishing.

MEDIAmerica is a diversified regional magazine company, publishing Oregon Business (since 1981), Oregon Home (since 1997), and a number of tourism publications, including Discover Portland & The Pacific Northwest, distributed to more than 55 of Portland’s top hotels, and Travel Oregon, the official magazine of the Oregon Tourism Commission.

Insinga will replace John O'Toole, who left a publishing position in New York to join MEDIAmerica in 1997 and has been President and CEO since 2000. O'Toole announced his decision to step down several weeks ago and plans to pursue opportunities with start-up and early stage companies in the Portland area. Board Chairman Andre Iseli praised O'Toole's leadership of the growing company and said he believes Insinga is "uniquely qualified" to continue the company's expansion.

"John O'Toole has been the ultimate professional in guiding the growth and improvement of our magazines, and in finding new opportunities for us," Iseli said. "The publishing knowledge and experience he acquired on the East coast, and his personal character, have been tremendous assets for our company."

"Andrew Insinga is truly a worthy successor," Iseli continued. "He has been a highly successful publisher for several companies, for publications that range from new launches to long-established magazines, and publications that serve local, regional, national and international business audiences. We look forward to his imaginative and vigorous leadership as we expand present publications and seek new opportunities."

Insinga, a graduate of Colorado State University, moved to Oregon from Colorado in 2003. He lives with his wife Patricia and their son and daughter in Lake Oswego. He will become CEO of MEDIAmerica on November 6.
