I live near both the New Seasons in Cedar Hills and the new MOC in Cedar Mill. To me, New Seasons is much easier to shop at -- MOC is too much like Disneyland -- so many distractions. I think it's meant for people who view shopping as a form of entertainment, and who don't look at the total when they swipe their cards at the checkout!

Seems Mr. Schluter thinks no big deal (kinda cold if you ask me). I would like to see OB put up wage and benefits that these employees received. Then have Mr.Schlueter fine them like paying jobs.

Can one of these Representatives or Senators please explain how either of these bills help create more jobs for Americans, stop illegal immigrates from crossing our borders or reduces our 18.3 Trillion dollar deficit? Those three items are the top priorities they should be working on. Anything not improving our economy, protecting our borders or reducing our deficit is a waste of our tax payer dollars.

i worked at Crystal Greens Landscape when they coached us in what to say in the "anonymous" interview. A coworker who asked if I filled it out said to me, that's your first lie. I am now one of 6 managers who were recently let go or quit after they acquired our 30 year business. They may run a successful company but I doubt the employees believe it to be a solid place to be working at.

I have lived across from an adult foster care home for several years and have witnessed fights, foul language, and much more. I have never understood why the county has never stepped in to stop the violence that comes from this home. I feel sorry for the neighbors that are directly close to this home, I can only imagine the hell they must go through. I would never ever put anyone of my family members in such a place like that. In order to get your ...

I think Portland (and Oregon's) reputation for innovation is actually on display with our current response to a Cascadia earthquake and tsunami. We are actually in the process of preparing before it happens. This more often happens after disasters happen. Portlandia could well do a segment on the cargo bike disaster trials that started in Portland and are making their way to other cities across the country. OPB and Hack Oregon have brought the ...

  • Where does Oregon rank among the worst states to make a living?
    Guest
Oregon so blessed with beautiful mountains, rivers, and forests has been cursed with a deadly combination of liberal politics that expanded taxes and regulations adding the job killing uber environmentalis t meme to effectively chase away all of the living wage, union jobs that supported Oregonians for generations. Most of these small mill, fishing and farming towns that used to prosper have become ghost towns with few jobs or prospects for young ...

Ms. Heekin makes very important points. We've too often seen business partnership split-ups destroy personal financial security. Spouses are often unaware of the business risks being undertaken. Personal guarantees affect the entire family. Ms. Heekin offers wise counsel.

Metal Toad's focus on "qualified people who fit the corporate culture" is exactly the problem. "Fitting into the culture" is this ridiculous idea that is entirely based on laziness: homogeneity is easy, it's unchallenging, and it feels "comfortable", so therefor it must be good. And it means awful things to anybody who isn't a young white male coder, or an old white male manager: that you don't fit in if you're a the wrong age, a person of colour ...

Good lord. "Building airplanes" as a "manly man" activity? And no you don't need "buy in from the whole organization", you need ZERO TOLERANCE from the top down for sexist behavior in hiring. It's total crap that there aren't qualified people to fill the jobs. I have been recruiting for years in tech including 20+ tech startups in Portland and the big problem is the way men are ALLOWED to treat women, both in the hiring process and on the job. And ...

These are EBT (or "SNAP") match tokens. We are committed to making healthy foods accessible for the whole community, so that's why the Forest Grove Farmers Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and FDNP! Benefits may be put toward the purchase of all fruits and vegetables at the market. When market tokens are purchased with EBT, we match the first five dollars with these orange tokens that can be spent on fresh fruit, vegetables or herbs.

Sen. Wyden and Rep. Blumenauer deserve credit for doing their own thinking on behalf of what is best for their constituents, and not slavishly doing what is best for the usual special interest campaign donation sources.

Sure Senator Wyden. Let's not talk about politics now. Oh. We should mention one political reality. Your fast-track vote likely means you'll be "primaried" during the next election cycle. We are tired of secret backroom deals. We need transparency when trade policy is discussed in the U.S. Congress. Let's put a true progressive in the Senate, someone who values transparency, in place of Wyden.
