The 100 Best Green Companies survey | Print |  Email

Based on its widely recognized 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon project, the 100 Best Green Companies are determined by an anonymous employee OBM-100-best-Green-logo-2015-500pxwsurvey and an independent assessment of the employers’ sustainability practices.

For the seventh annual 100 Best Green Companies in 2015, Sustainable Practices questions were incorporated into both the 100 Best Nonprofits survey, conducted April-June 2014 and the 100 Best Companies survey, conducted August-November 2014. More than 17,000 employees from 450 Oregon workplaces took part in these two surveys.

In March, we will notify all company and nonprofit survey participants whether or not they are a 100 Best Green Company. We will celebrate these workplaces at a luncheon event on May 27, 2015 at the Nines Hotel in Portland.

The survey runs through November. Companies must sign up initially and will then receive survey instructions. There is no cost to participate or be listed in the magazine.

If you represent a for-profit private or public company or division with at least 15 regular full- or part-time Oregon employees (including owners/executives)....


The 23-year-old survey is used to determine the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon highlighted in the March issue of Oregon Business, as well as  the 100 Best Green Companies to Work For in Oregon, highlighted in the June issue.

Employer Benefits Survey Guidelines | Print |  Email

A company representative familiar with your organization’s employment and benefits policies should complete the benefits (or employer) survey. It takes about 30 minutes. To access the Employer Survey, the representative will need the unique survey link sent to your company's 100 Best contact in the survey instructions.

The employee survey consists of 30 statements divided into six workplace categories. Answers to the first five categories count for 5/6 of the overall score used to determine the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon. The sixth category, Sustainable Practices, is used to help determine our 100 Best Green Companies to Work For, published in June. 

Employer Benefits Survey questions | Print |  Email

The confidential employer survey consists of 57 questions, providing a comprehensive analysis of company benefits policies. Answers from the first 41 questions count for 1/6 of a participating company's overall 100 Best Companies score. The 15 Sustainable Practices questions count for 1/3 of a company's 100 Best Green Companies score. There is one open-ended question for additional comments.

The survey is divided into six sections: Work Environment; Management & Communications; Decision-making & Trust; Career Development and Learning; Benefits & Compensation; and Sustainable Practices (used to determine the 100 Best Green Companies list). Within each section are 4 workplace qualities (10 in Sustainable Practices) on which employees rate satisfaction and importance. There is also an optional demographic section and two open-ended questions asking what employees like about their workplace and what they would like improved.

Nonprofit Employee Survey Questions | Print |  Email

The survey is divided into five sections with a total of 20 statements, 11 Sustainable Practices statements for our 100 Best Green Companies survey, an optional demographic section and two open-ended questions. Oregon volunteers who work at least 20 hours per month can take the survey.
