Oregon venture capital off to fast start

Oregon startups raised more investment capital in the first quarter of 2013 than in any first quarter since 2000.

Seven companies raised $70.4 million altogether, according to the numbers compiled by the NVCA’s MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Most of the venture money came from just two Portland deals -- $30 million raised by software startup Puppet Labs in January, and $25 million that mobile app developer Urban Airship raised the following month.
