Nonprofit helps last-minute tax filers

Nonprofit CASHOregon helped last-minute tax filers this weekend.

"We broke a record with 169 returns. Normally if we do 100, it seems like a lot," said Rob Justus, executive director of CASHOregon, noting Saturday's count at the nonprofit's main office in Portland's Lloyd Center. CASHOregon is a free tax filing service for lower income individuals.

CASHOregon's 140 offices around the state will offer services again Monday into the evening as long as people need assistance and volunteers are available to lend it.
