A proposed $8.7 billion Washington state transportation budget doesn't include funding for the state's portion of the Columbia River Crossing.
But the $3.4 billion megaproject to replace the Interstate 5 parallel bridges, rebuild interchanges and extend light rail to Clark College was not the only neglected project. The Senate’s transportation plan did not propose new or increased taxes or fees, and therefore included no funding for new projects.
The co-chairwoman of the Transportation Committee, Sen. Tracey Eide, D-Federal Way, said the "bare-bones" budget proposal focuses on maintenance and operations of current roads and projects.
