The Oregon Senate voted to let young immigrants pay resident college tuition no matter how they were brought to the U.S. as children.

The Senate’s approval in a 19-11 vote comes 10 years after the measure was first proposed. Immigrant-rights advocates erupted in cheers the moment the bill passed, their applause echoing through the Capitol as they congratulated one another, hugged lawmakers and posed for photos.

Critics said the state shouldn’t be subsidizing a college education for people who violated the law and won’t be able to work in the United States.

I guess our laws don't mean anything anymore. Illegal means illegal. It doesn't matter how old or how young, they are here illegally. As a US citizen, if I was currently attending an Oregon university, paying out of state tuition, I would be seeking an attorney to challenge this ruling. I should not have to pay nearly $20,000 more for my education just because I am a resident of another state. Illegal immigrants are not legal residents of the USA, yet they can now pay in state tuition. However, they legally will not be able to work once they graduate. What is happening to our country when our elected officials (both Federal and State) FAIL to uphold our laws and protect our borders?
