Knight program helps students design shoes

A class at Portland's Catlin Gabel School funded by the Knight Family Scholars Program helps students design shoes.

A group of students has been working to design a shoe with a price point around $50. Five teams collaborate to come up with a unified design after sketching out ideas and producing a prototype.

Organizers said it's about developing leaders for tomorrow.
