Pietro's Pizza survives ownership changes

Pietro's Pizza survived massive changes of growing from a mom-and-pop store to a chain of nearly 80 stores, back to its current three outlets.

Business experts say it's an unlikely survival story for a small, regional company. "Typically it just would have dissolved," says Dino Eliadis, founder of the Florida-based DE Inc. consulting firm and a blogger on business growth cycles.

"It is not common you see a company pass through different ownership and end up where it started -- and be successful," agrees Desiree Pacheco, an assistant professor at Portland State University's School of Business Administration.
