Unemployment claims in Oregon are back down to pre-recession levels.
Nationwide, applications dropped 22,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 344,000 — meaning that layoffs are decreasing and companies might soon be hiring more workers.
The most recent week in data available, February 16, showed that Oregon’s initial unemployment insurance claims were 6,573. That’s a 649 decrease from the previous week of February 9 and a 3,663 decrease from the beginning of 2013.
