Little known about which programs will be impacted by federal cuts

Oregon will lose over $38 million under automatic federal budget cuts that kick in Friday, but it is still unknown which specific programs will be impacted.

According to a report from the White House, the state is facing a $10.2 million loss in federal funding for primary and secondary education; $1.9 million in cuts for environmental funding for clean air and water; and $1.05 million in grants for fish and wildlife protection.

The Oregon Public Health Division is forecasting a number of cuts to community health programs, including those that serve the mentally ill, at a time when the state legislature is calling for increased funding.
