Oregon considers abolishing electoral college

A bill to abolish the electoral college in presidential elections has strong support in the Oregon Legislature.

A bill that would require Oregon to join an interstate compact pledging its electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote was introduced Thursday with the support of 32 House members and 13 senators.

The concept of doing an end-run around the electoral college has been pushed by a national group headed by John Koza, the co-founder of a lottery ticket game manufacturer.
