Hillsboro fuel cell manufacture ClearEdge Power finalized its acquisition of Connecticut-based UTC Power.

Founded in 2003, ClearEdge makes stationary fuel cells which power commercial and residential buildings. UTC's fuel cells are geared more toward big buildings like hospitals and supermarkets, as well as for fleet buses.

Before the acquisition, UTC had about 375 workers. Sager could not give a precise number for ClearEdge, although in 2011, they had 225. ClearEdge plans to keep UTC's Connecticut office. Executives are still ironing out plans for restructuring the combined companies, including whether or not workers will be laid off.
