Soccer match-fixing scandal could have dire consequences for Nike, Adidas

Nike and Adidas both sponsor national federations, club teams and soccer stars around the world. It is not yet known if any of their partners are among the suspects in 700 suspicious games.

Europol, the law enforcement agency in Europe that announced the results of the 19-month investigation today in The Hague, Netherlands, did not name individuals or organizations, at this time.

"The list of matches is staggering and encompasses about 380 games in Europe, covering World Cup and European championship qualifiers, as well as Champions League games, including one match played in England," writes The New York Times.

Stadiums around the world sport the Nike swoosh and Adidas three stripes logo. Soccer is a multi-billion business to both companies, though only Nike offers a glimpse of its revenue in the companies annual statement.
