Intel promoted eight executives ahead of a new CEO announcement, including five in Oregon.

Five of the eight work in Hillsboro, reflecting Oregon's key role at Intel (which remains headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif.), and the vital role Intel continues to assign to its Oregon-based manufacturing group.

As a new generation of leaders takes over at Intel, the number of Hillsboro executives within the company ([Chairman Andy] Bryant lives here, too) suggests Oregon's role will only grow. (Though just one of the publicly identified CEO candidates, software chief Renee James, lives in Oregon.)
