The Eugene Airport had its second record year in a row in 2012, due to new routes, the Fiesta Bowl and an improving economy.
A total of 809,457 paying passengers traveled through the airport last year, an increase of 3.74 percent over 2011.
Airport Director Tim Doll said the airport has been successful in the past five years in gaining back a significant number of passengers who had been flying out of other airports, notably Portland.
“That increased passenger support has a direct effect on our ability to gain new nonstop routes and present a strong case for attracting new airlines,” Doll said. This past November, Allegiant Air added nonstop service to Palm Springs, Calif., and Honolulu.
