Jeff Sanders wants to bring golf tournament to Portland

Jeff Sanders and his Beaverton-based Jeff Sanders Promotions wants to add a golf tournament to Oregon.

Sanders has been visiting potential sponsors in the state, laying the groundwork for a possible men's professional golf tournament in the Portland area, perhaps as early as July 2014. To do that, he will likely need to secure a title sponsor and presenting sponsor by early next year.

Sanders launched his business in 1989, shortly after ending his five-year PGA Tour stint. He played on a golf scholarship at the University of Oregon, from 1975 to 1978; fellow Duck Peter Jacobsen was a senior when Sanders was a sophomore.
