Metro and the City of Portland are joining together to protect 54 acres of wildlife habitat near the Columbia Slough.

The Broadmoor natural area acquisition is a partnership among Metro, the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services and Portland Parks & Recreation, which will manage the site as a natural area.

The purchase price for the land, $530,400, was split three ways between Metro's $227 million natural areas bond measure that was passed in 2006, Portland's allocation from that bond measure and Portland's Environmental Services' Grey to Green initiative.
