Keen headquarters gets green makeover

Keen renovated their 50,000-square-foot headquarters in Portland's Pearl District with a focus on repurposing and reuse.

Instead of shipping waste to a landfill, the project accumulated masses of reusable material, said Rob Fenty, Keen vice president of planning and operations. That ultimately included 25 tons of drywall, 25 tons of wood, 5 tons of metal and huge quantities of rubber.

Materials were saved for The Rebuilding Center on North Mississippi Avenue and Habitat for Humanity, among others, [Walt Bianchini of R&H Construction and superintendent for the renovation project] said.
