The Seattle-based TV company that owns Eugene CBS affiliate KVAL is trying to acquire Eugene's NBC affiliate KMTR.

Under the deal, which is subject to Federal Communications Commission approval, Fisher Communications would run KMTR jointly with a separate, independent company, Roberts Media LLC.

On its website, Fisher says it operates 20 TV stations, which include network affiliations with ABC, CBS, FOX, Univision and CW that reach 3.5 percent of U.S. television households.
