Seven to eight microbreweries are currently in development in the Camas-Washougal area, according to Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association president and CEO Paul Dennis.

Eric Radovich, executive director of the Washington Beer Commission, an organization that promotes Washington's microbreweries, says that while he's not sure there's anything that is recession proof, it seems beer is one of the things people will find money for.

Dennis says modest permit and sewer connection fees, coupled with the presence of many well-known and well-regarded brewmasters in the area, are some of the reasons microbreweries are setting up shop in the area.
